Job Summary and Responsibilities Acentra Health is looking for an Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Director to join our growing team. Job Summary: Acentra Health's AI & Automation CoE is the enterprise hub for AI innovation and enablement. Our mandate is to prove value with production‑grade applications and then transfer successful solutions to business lines for scale. We run a L0–L5 stage‑gate, emphasize reusable platforms and components, and partner closely with Product, Transformation, and Operations teams to deliver healthcare‑grade quality and measurable business impact. You will grow and lead a high‑leverage engineering program that builds promising pilot applications that will become reliable, secure, and scalable AI‑enabled products. You'll set technical standards, mature our platform, deliver reusable components, and coach a growing team while partnering with product development, business lines, and our shared services teams. • Remote within the United States Job Responsibilities • Lead the team: Hire, mentor, and develop engineers; establish a culture of craftsmanship, velocity, and accountability. • Own the architecture: Define reference architectures for evolving RAG and Agentic AI solutions; ensure security, privacy, and observability are first‑class. • Platformize & reuse: Build shared libraries, templates, and evaluation / guardrail tooling; drive adoption across initiatives. • Delivery excellence: Improve L1–L4 throughput, survivability, and quality; partner with the AI Portfolio Manager on sequencing and resourcing. • Operational readiness: Align with established service levels, incident management, and cost/performance optimization practices. • Cross‑org partnership: Collaborate with the AI Council, Architectural Review Board, Compliance, and business‑line product and operations teams for safe, scalable rollouts. • Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules. Qualifications Required Qualifications • BS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. • 7+ years' experience in software engineering • 3+ years' experience leading AI/ML production teams • 3+ years' experience with people management • Deep expertise in cloud (AWS, Azure), APIs/microservices, data pipelines • Deep expertise with GenAI / LLM application development (RAG, agents, summarization). • Track record building platforms with reusable components with strong observability, testing, and cost governance. • Excellent people leadership, vendor and partner management, and executive communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • MS in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. • Healthcare experience. • Knowledge of healthcare data standards (FHIR) and compliance (HIPAA). Why us?
