Authorization Specialist - REMOTE

About the position Responsibilities • Obtain prior authorizations for facility services based on assigned specialty or clinic area. • Secure prior authorization and notify the rendering party in a timely manner. • Answer patient calls and provide outgoing communication regarding financial obligations and authorization status. • Assist with patient estimation, benefit education, and payment processing. • Process prior authorization requests through electronic health records (EHR) and ensure proper tracking and monitoring. • Submit medical records to insurance carriers to expedite prior authorization processes. • Manage correspondence with insurance companies, physicians, specialists, and patients, documenting in the EHR as appropriate. • Assist with medical necessity documentation to expedite approvals and ensure appropriate follow-up is performed. • Review accuracy and completeness of information requested and ensure all supporting documents are present. • Review denials and follow up with providers to obtain medically necessary information for appeals. • Prioritize incoming authorizations by level of urgency and date of service. • Secure patient information in accordance with Quadris Client policy/procedures. • Monitor work queues and resolve accounts in a timely manner. • Stay up to date on insurance company policies and procedures related to prior authorizations. Requirements • High School diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 2 years of experience with the referral/authorization process and interacting with insurance carriers. • Professional level skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally. • Ability to work independently and within a team atmosphere. • Self-motivated and passionate about quality work. Nice-to-haves • Experience with medical coding. • Strong writing skills. • Ability to type proficiently and at an effective pace. • Advanced application of business/office standard processes and technical applications.
