Community Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator

The American Red Cross is seeking a dedicated and driven individual to join our team as a Community Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator. In this role, you will play a crucial role in helping communities prepare for and respond to disasters. Develop and implement disaster risk reduction strategies and plans for the community in collaboration with local stakeholders and partners. Facilitate and lead trainings and workshops on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery for community members and organizations. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities in the community. Work closely with local government agencies, first responders, and community leaders to ensure effective coordination and communication during emergencies. Act as a liaison between the American Red Cross and the community, providing updates, resources, and support before, during, and after disasters. Collaborate with other Community Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinators and Red Cross teams to share best practices and ensure consistency in disaster preparedness efforts. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, and volunteers to support disaster risk reduction initiatives. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster risk reduction programs and make recommendations for improvements. Serve as a spokesperson for the American Red Cross in the community, promoting disaster preparedness and response efforts. Stay current on disaster risk reduction trends and practices, and utilize this knowledge to inform and improve program strategies. Manage and maintain data and records related to disaster risk reduction activities and outcomes. Uphold the values and mission of the American Red Cross and represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner.
