Data Protection Engineer

Job Description: • Collaborate with Data Protection Architects, M365 Security teams, Data Governance groups, and business stakeholders to align on strategy, requirements, and emerging trends. • Provide technical guidance for the design and deployment of cloud security and data protection capabilities. • Act as an escalation point for complex architectural decisions related to data protection across multiple platforms. • Design and implement data protection mechanisms including encryption in transit and at rest, HSM, cloud KMS, DLP, and cloud compliance. • Contribute to internal security and infrastructure communities to strengthen shared knowledge and best practices. • Support the development of the enterprise cloud security roadmap and ensure alignment with broader security objectives. Requirements: • Expert level experience with Microsoft Data Protection solutions. • Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 Security and Microsoft Purview Information Protection. • Hands on experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps. • Experience with enterprise grade security capabilities: encryption, HSM, KMS, DLP, key management. • Experience with CI/CD tools and version control (such as Git). • Ability to script or code using Python, C Sharp, PowerShell, or Azure CLI. • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Business, Risk Management, Finance, Statistics, or a related discipline. • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, industry standards, and best practices. • Experience with data models, architectures, and data quality tooling. • Demonstrated leadership in implementing data protection at enterprise scale. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. • Clear communication skills and the ability to simplify technical insights for senior stakeholders. • Proactive approach with creative thinking to solve complex challenges. • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage work in a fast paced environment.
