Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Security and Legal Data Engineering team, which builds scalable data management and extraction structures that are at the core of our ability to uphold the highest data privacy and cleanliness standards in the industry. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in expanding our capacity to construct robust, versatile, and privacy-driven data structures. You will work with various data technologies like Flash, Voila, Flink, Kafka, and others to build fast, scalable, and powerful data pipelines, write ETL responsibilities to collect and aggregate data, and construct high-quality data structures that enable the proper handling of customer personal data. Key Responsibilities Design and implement efficient, scalable, and adaptable data pipelines to handle structured and unstructured data Develop a deep understanding of the data ecosystem at Netflix from a privacy perspective Collaborate with the privacy engineering teams to understand product goals and provide data that enables us to respond to customer and regulatory data demands Maintain and re-evaluate existing datasets and pipelines Join a talented team of data engineers who enhance our data privacy act and mitigate legal and regulatory risk Work with large datasets and complex data systems to identify trends, optimize performance, and improve data quality Develop and maintain technical documentation of data pipelines, architectures, and data structures Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and analytics to ensure data consistency and accuracy Essential Qualifications Passionate about consumer-driven data privacy and risk mitigation for the business Highly skilled in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala with at least 2 years of programming/data engineering experience Comfortable with advanced SQL Experienced in designing data pipelines using big data technologies (Hive, Voila, Flash, Flink) on medium to large-scale datasets Successful in taking requirements and implementing scalable data models and pipelines Excited about demonstrating excellence, learning new technologies, and growing your career Preferred Qualifications Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or GCP Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data security principles Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues and develop creative solutions Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance Experience with data processing frameworks, such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Apache Flink Knowledge of data storage solutions, such as relational databases, NoSQL databases, or data lakes Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with complex data sets and develop insights Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Netflix, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
