The Opportunity: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Flight Simulator Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and enhancing our Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs). You'll leverage your technical expertise to ensure the availability and effectiveness of these critical training tools, supporting our ongoing development of cutting-edge flight training programs. Key Responsibilities Provide 24/7 engineering support for Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs). Troubleshoot and resolve complex FSTD discrepancies using diagnostic techniques. Contribute to engineering projects aimed at improving and expanding FSTD capabilities. Ensure FSTD availability through meticulous technical problem-solving. Maintain and update FSTD software and hardware. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement engineering solutions. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in flight simulation technology. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of experience in simulator engineering or a related enterprise environment. Strong understanding of digital engineering, including analog and digital circuits. Knowledge of aeronautical systems and Qualified Test Guide (QTG) issues. Solid understanding of pilot skills, aircraft systems, flight principles, and simulator dynamics. Proficiency in computer engineering, including hardware/software understanding across multiple systems and operating systems. Familiarity with Part 60 compliance responsibilities and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and aircraft data. Excellent communication (verbal, written, and listening) skills. Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred: Experience with visible photo and display systems. Experience with FSTD software utilities. Ability to work independently and proactively identify and solve problems. Compensation & Benefits Alaska Airlines offers a competitive salary ranging from $26 to $40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
