College Intern Role – Assistant Board Member As a College Intern with The B.R.A.V.E. Project™, you will serve as an Assistant Board Member and will appear on our official Board of Directors webpage in this capacity. This is a leadership-development opportunity designed to provide hands-on nonprofit governance, operations, and executive-level exposure. Colege Majors & Minors — APPLY TODAY The B.R.A.V.E. Project™ intentionally aligns interns with Board Officers in their field of study to provide hands-on, real-world executive mentorship. Examples of Role Alignment: Finance / Accounting Majors or Minors You will be assigned to our Finance Officer who will mentor you on all Finance Operations. You will gain hands-on experience learning: • QuickBooks operations • Reconciling expenditures • Budget development and monitoring • Financial reporting such as P&L, Cash Flow, etc. • Grant and restricted fund tracking • Understanding nonprofit audits • Other nonprofit financial operations This is direct operational exposure — not observation! Human Resources Majors You will assist in welcoming all new members into the organization and learn HR Operations, including: • Volunteer onboarding • Organizational documentation • Workforce coordination • HR compliance processes • Training and Certification coordination • Talent engagement and retention strategies You will see firsthand how nonprofit workforce systems are built and maintained. Computer Science / IT / AI / Data-Related Majors You will work directly on technology operations and digital transformation initiatives. You will learn: • Develop and manage a Technology Portfolio • How to research and evaluate AI and non-AI applications • How to implement technology tools for business use • Systems integration • Process automation • Digital workflow development • Real-time implementation of business technology solutions This is implementation-based learning methods. You will actively build and deploy tools for a functioning nonprofit organization. Position Summary The BRAVE Volunteer / College Intern – Assistant Board Member plays a key role in supporting the work of The B.R.A.V.E. Project™ by assisting designated Board members with various tasks and responsibilities. Interns may be assigned to support up to two Board members, working closely with them to support their initiatives, help manage projects, and contribute to the smooth operation of programs. This position is designed to provide executive exposure, governance experience, and operational leadership development. Key Responsibilities Board Member Support Assist assigned Board members with their projects, tasks, and responsibilities, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to succeed in their roles. Task Management Help manage specific tasks, such as research, scheduling, event planning, or other duties as delegated by assigned Board members. Collaboration Work closely with other volunteers, interns, staff, and Board members to ensure the successful execution of tasks and projects. Program Support Assist with the execution of programs or events, providing logistical support, communicating with participants, and helping with operational implementation. Administrative Support Assist with administrative duties such as data entry, preparing materials, handling correspondence, and organizing documentation. Community Engagement Support outreach efforts, event promotion, partnership engagement, and fundraising initiatives. Qualifications • Active college or university enrollment required. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work independently on assignments AND as part of a team. • Willingness to assist with various tasks and responsibilities as needed. • Commitment to the mission and values of The B.R.A.V.E. Project™. Term and Compensation This position is voluntary and unpaid. The College Intern / Assistant Board Member typically serves a renewable term and may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses related to approved volunteer activities. Review of Policy This policy should be reviewed annually to ensure its relevance and effectiveness in aligning with the strategic goals of The B.R.A.V.E. Project™. Adjustments should be made as necessary to reflect changes in organizational needs, operations, or strategic direction.
