Supports the Area Finance teams payroll functions in a centralized environment. Supervises team of 12-15 payroll staff that payroll and administrative support to the Areas.
This position has been segmented as Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.
Responsibilities:
Business Results:
Oversee Finance staff that performs the following duties:
Payroll:
1. Direct oversight of Centralized Payroll Staff.
2. Ensure timely and accurate upload of payroll data
• Work collaboratively with Area department managers and Corporate payroll team to ensure timely submission of payroll data
• Monitor requests and reasons for Off Cycle paychecks to support Areas' efforts to reduce payroll errors
• Research and resolve department manager and employee payroll questions
• Supports Sales and Operations personnel with variable compensation reviews, audits and analytics
• Train and coordinate payroll staff schedules to ensure adequate knowledge of payroll duties are in place at all times. Finance Supervisor is expected to be able to perform payroll duties as necessary
3. Responsible for Time Keeping System (Kronos Legacy and Food Group, Omnitracs, Workday etc...) administration including:
• Coordinate with Support Office IT staff on changes needed for Area
• Wage rules
• PTO rules
Payroll Reporting and Analysis:
1. Support Area Finance Manager and FSC to create and deliver timely and accurate payroll analytics:
• Prepare journal entries; review and audit automated entries
• Prepare or research various financial items for payroll reporting purposes
Internal Controls:
1. Ensure Sarbanes Oxley (SOx) compliance for payroll processes:
• Ensure SOx and internal controls within span of control are performed timely and accurately
• Provide support to the Area Leaders for Market and Hub payroll internal control issues
• Management and audit of Associate records in payroll systems
Leads Area Finance Team Members:
1. Direct oversight of Payroll and Accounting Clerks in Centralized environment including:
• Interviewing, hiring decisions, promotions, salary increases, disciplinary actions and terminations
• 2. Guide, coach and development of the Payroll and Accounting Clerks
• 3. Coordinate efforts of direct reports to ensure that daily, monthly and quarterly responsibilities are met.
Back up payroll coverage for team during PTO and vacancies
Complete ad hoc projects and analysis as requested
Travel as necessary up to 10%

• Internal: Field Finance, Field Leadership, Corporate Payroll

Qualifications:
Education/Training:
• BS in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience required.
Related Experience/Requirements:
• Must possess minimum of five years accounting, payroll and/or financial analysis experience or two years in public accounting.
• Industry experience is preferred.
• Prior experience supervising accounting, financial analysis or payroll staff preferred.
• Remote/virtual supervisory experience preferred.
• Overnight travel may be required to participate in trainings, meetings, or other company events.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of finance, payroll, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and SOX.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels in the organization.
• Strong written and oral communication skills required.
• Ability to prioritize activities in a multi-tasked environment required.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between
$65,000 - $100,000
