The firm is seeking a seasoned Chemicals Investment Banking Managing Director with deep sector expertise and a strong network across the chemicals value chain. This individual will lead client coverage, originate and execute transactions, and play a central role in building and scaling the Chemicals vertical within the broader Industrials platform.
Relevant subsectors include Specialty Chemicals, Commodity Chemicals, Agricultural Chemicals, Coatings & Adhesives, Plastics & Polymers, and Chemical Distribution.
Title – Industrials Investment Banking MD
Location – New York, Boston or Chicago (open to remote)
Compensation – 300k BASE, up to 30% of revenue generated
Key Responsibilities:
Originate, structure, and execute sell-side M&A transactions with enterprise values ranging from $100 million to $1 billion (core sweet spot $100 million–$500 million).
Generate ~$5 million+ in annual M&A advisory fees through strong client relationships and consistent deal flow.
Develop and maintain relationships with corporate executives, founder-owned businesses, and private equity sponsors active in the chemicals sector.
Deliver high-quality strategic advisory and execution, with typical transaction fees in the $1.5–$2 million+ range per engagement.
Build, mentor, and lead deal teams, including Directors, Vice Presidents, and junior bankers.
Drive new business initiatives across targeted chemicals sub-verticals, with the opportunity to build a dedicated team.
Contribute to the broader strategy and expansion of the Industrials Investment Banking platform.
Qualifications:
15–20 years of Investment Banking experience with a strong track record of closing M&A transactions within the chemicals sector.
Deep expertise in one or more subsectors such as Specialty Chemicals, Agricultural Chemicals, Industrial Chemicals, or Materials.
Proven revenue generation experience, with a track record of ~$5 million+ in annual M&A fees.
Strong network of C-level executives, founders, and private equity firms active in chemicals and materials.
Demonstrated ability to originate and execute transactions in the $100 million–$1 billion range.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and scale a sector vertical.
Exceptional leadership, client management, and communication skills.
