All Jobs  >  Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant Praetorian Standard Inc Apply Senior Bookkeeper/Accountant Fully Remote • Virginia, North Carolina Type Full-time Description The Bookkeeper/Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking activities, and financial compliance. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely payments and collections, and adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements. Requirements Key Responsibilities: - Invoicing: Verify, process, and record invoices to ensure they match purchase orders and receipts, avoiding duplicate or unauthorized payments (excluding program/project invoices). - Timely payment processing: Schedule payments through checks, ACH, or wire transfers. - Cost control: Track and manage expenses to ensure departmental budgets are adhered to and inefficiencies are promptly addressed. - Vendor management: Maintain up-to-date vendor profiles, handle contact information, and resolve payment-related disputes efficiently. - Reconciliation: Routinely reconcile accounts payable ledgers to ensure accurate postings and balances with vendor statements. - Payment monitoring: Timely monitoring of payments to prevent delays and penalties. - Compliance: Ensure all accounts payable reports and processes adhere to internal controls, tax laws, and legal requirements. - Accounts Receivable: Prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable; create invoices according to company practices and/or customer requirements (excluding program/project invoices). - Revenue Reconciliation: Maintain and update customer files, reconcile accounts receivable periodically, generate monthly billing statements, and reconcile revenue accounts. - Cash Management: Management of bookkeeping vendor, line of credit and loan management/payment, bank coordination interface, routine state business license and tax payments. - Reporting: Generate detailed reports on accounts payable, cash flow, and outstanding liabilities. - Auditing & Compliance: Support audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and legal requirements. - Support other Finance Department activities, as required, to included, but not limited to: Project and program financial management, payroll activities, budgeting, forecasting, pricing, proposals and business development, and financial reporting. Supervision This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred - Equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant work experience will be considered Experience - Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles - Demonstrated experience with accounts payable and receivable (to include invoice verification and payment processing via ACH, check, wire), payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance - Proficiency with MS Excel (Advanced) and accounting software such as Unanet, QuickBooks, or similar platforms - Proven experience preparing financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation for management and stakeholders - Experience maintaining vendor and customer accounts, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies - Familiarity with audit and compliance processes, including providing documentation and support for internal or external audits Salary Description $85,000 - $100,000 Apply View All Jobs Powered by Payroll & HR Software
