They are seeking a Lead Data Architect to design and evolve a modern AWS-based enterprise data platform, overseeing all aspects of data architecture and analytics.
Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end data architecture across ingestion, storage, processing, serving, and visualization layers
• Define canonical data models, domain-driven data contracts, and schema designs for batch and streaming workloads
• Lead conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling initiatives
• Establish reference architectures and integration patterns for event-driven and API-led data pipelines using Kafka and MuleSoft
• Design secure, multi-account AWS environments including VPC, IAM, and KMS
• Implement governance, data lineage, cataloging, and metadata standards
• Lead the design and phased rollout of a new AWS data platform
• Architect raw and curated data zones on Amazon S3 with lifecycle and partitioning strategies
• Enable interactive analytics using Athena and governed enterprise reporting using Snowflake and Tableau
• Define platform SLAs/SLOs, cost guardrails, and chargeback/showback models
• Optimize storage and compute usage for performance and cost efficiency
• Partner with DevOps teams to deploy containerized data services on Amazon EKS
• Drive CI/CD automation for data pipelines, streaming services, and integrations
Skills
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering
• 3+ years of hands-on experience architecting data platforms on AWS
• Proven expertise in S3-based data lakes, including partitioning, lifecycle policies, and metadata management
• Strong hands-on experience with Kafka (topic design, schema evolution, consumer groups, performance tuning)
• Practical experience designing MuleSoft integrations using API-led connectivity and governance models
• Production experience with Amazon EKS for data and streaming microservices
• Advanced SQL skills and performance tuning using Amazon Athena
• Deep experience with Snowflake data warehousing (ELT, clustering, security, resource monitoring)
• Experience delivering analytics and dashboards using Tableau
• Strong command of data modeling techniques (3NF, dimensional/star, data vault, event modeling)
• Solid understanding of cloud security, IAM/KMS, networking, and cost management
• Experience with schema registries, stream processing frameworks, and change data capture (CDC)
• Background in data governance, metadata automation, cataloging, and lineage tools
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps/GitOps practices for data platforms
• Experience enabling self-service analytics and building enterprise semantic layers
