Description
Hi! I’m a therapist, social worker, and yoga/meditation instructor based in Toronto. I run a private practice that integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, and mindfulness, with a focus on supporting Black and BIPOC clients.
I’m looking for a creative and strategic Squarespace web designer who also has strong copywriting, user experience (UX), and SEO knowledge to elevate my current website.
Right now, my site feels somewhat flat and not as engaging or intuitive as it could be. I’m looking to transform it into a space that feels:
Warm, grounded, and welcoming
Emotionally engaging and aligned with therapeutic work
Creative and visually intentional (not corporate or sterile)
Easy and intuitive to navigate
Designed to convert visitors into inquiries and booked clients
Project Goals
Improve the overall look, feel, and user experience of the website
Increase client inquiries and bookings through stronger conversion design
Improve Google visibility and search performance (especially for local therapy searches)
Strengthen trust and credibility (e.g., integrating testimonials, Google reviews, etc.)
Create a site that feels like a safe, grounded landing space for potential clients
Scope of Work
1. Squarespace Design + Visual Experience
Redesign or significantly enhance current site layout and structure
Improve visual hierarchy, spacing, and flow
Create a more engaging and interactive experience (subtle movement, hover effects, etc. where appropriate)
Ensure mobile optimization and responsiveness
Align the design with a warm, calming, modern wellness aesthetic
2. UX / User Journey (Conversion-Focused)
Optimize the user journey from landing → exploring → booking
Make the site feel intuitive and easy to move through, especially for someone who may feel overwhelmed or new to therapy
Strategically place calls-to-action (book now, consult, workshops, etc.)
Reduce friction in the booking process
Design for an experience that feels like an inviting, safe “yes”
✍ 3. Copywriting & Messaging
Refine or rewrite website copy to:
Feel warm, human, and emotionally resonant
Reflect somatic, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care
Be clear and compelling without sounding overly clinical
Clearly communicate key offerings:
1:1 therapy
EMDR intensives
Workshops (yoga/meditation series)
4. SEO + Google Visibility
Optimize website pages for relevant therapy/wellness search terms
Improve page structure, headings, and metadata for SEO
Ensure the site is set up to support organic traffic and inquiries from search
Bonus: Experience with Google Business Profile optimization and integrating reviews/testimonials to increase trust and visibility
Ideal Candidate
You are:
Experienced in Squarespace website design (must provide portfolio examples)
Skilled in both design and copy (or strong messaging strategy)
Knowledgeable in SEO and conversion-focused websites
Able to create sites that feel warm, inviting, and emotionally safe—not corporate or templated
Thoughtful about user psychology and how clients decide to reach out/book therapy
A creative thinker who can bring ideas and direction, not just execute
Bonus:
Experience working with therapists, coaches, or wellness brands
Understanding of somatic therapy, mindfulness, or trauma-informed care
Strong alignment with culturally responsive design and messaging
Aesthetic Direction
I’m drawn to:
Soft, earthy tones (brand palette will be provided)
Clean but not overly minimal (not “empty” feeling)
Subtle interactivity or movement
A site that feels like:
“I can exhale here. I feel safe. I want to book.”
To Apply
Please include:
Links to Squarespace websites you’ve designed (especially wellness/therapy if applicable)
A short note on your approach to:
Designing for conversion (visitors → clients)
Creating a warm, engaging user experience
Any experience with SEO, Google visibility, or improving bookings through websites
Additional Notes
This is not just about making the site look better—I’m looking for someone who can help translate my work into a digital experience that feels aligned, welcoming, and effective in bringing in the right clients.
If it’s a good fit, there may be potential for ongoing collaboration (SEO, landing pages, program launches, etc.)
✨ Looking forward to finding the right creative partner!
