The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is committed to serving local communities through various outreach programs. The Staff Accountant - Payroll is responsible for maintaining payroll accuracy for over 500 employees and ensuring timely processing and reporting of payroll activities.
Responsibilities
- Record payroll activities through accurate journal entries, reconcile payroll ledger accounts monthly and promptly research and resolve any reconciliation discrepancies (35%)
- Prepare various additional information and perform calculations, such as pension billing, fringe benefit values, worker’s compensation wage reports, and audit reports. (35%)
- Process payroll with precision and promptness (25%)
- Serve as a liaison between the field and employees, collaborating closely with Human Resources on employee-related matters (5%)
Skills
- Associate's degree in accounting
- Previous payroll and accounting experience
- Pass background checks
- Valid driver's license and meet MVR driver's qualifications
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
- Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Excel
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of honor in dealing with confidential information
- Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence
- Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, Adobe, General Ledgers, and standard office equipment
- Must be able to communicate clearly in English
- Valid driver's license and meet MVR driver's qualifications preferred
