Junior Software QA Engineer

KBR’s National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to customers in the intelligence and national security communities. The Junior Software QA Engineer will analyze and test software prototypes, collaborate with various teams, and maintain automated testing suites to ensure the quality of software applications. Responsibilities Analyze and test software prototypes and/or applications as part of a multi-disciplinary team Collaborate across infrastructure, development, and QA teams. Work closely with software developers and other stakeholders to understand software requirements and specifications Maintain automated testing suites, detailed test plans, test cases, test scripts, test reports, and other documentation Identify software defects and issues, communicate defect reports, and provide detailed information on defect occurrences Perform root cause analysis of defects and implement corrective actions Conduct performance testing through load testing, stress testing, and scalability testing to ensure that applications can handle expected user loads without compromising speed or stability Work with complex algorithms to deliver optimized solutions for the end user Skills Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required for this position BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience 1-3 years of software development, including object-oriented design, coding, and/or testing, with a focus on QA methodologies, tools, and processes Solid understanding of test development and test execution Working knowledge of performance testing, security testing, and usability testing Practical experience in one or more of the following: Python, Java, or Go Working knowledge of automated testing tools like Selenium or Cypress Excellent problem-solving skills Strong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologies Organization capability with ability to handle competing priorities Strong interpersonal skills, communication (oral and written), and presentation skills Familiarity with web applications and microservices architecture Familiarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and others Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence Experience in implementing Agile Software Development methodologies for efficient and iterative project management Proficient in using GitLab or other Tools for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration Benefits 401K plan with company match Medical Dental Vision Life insurance AD&D Flexible spending account Disability Paid time off Flexible work schedule Company Overview At KBR, we deliver science, technology and engineering solutions that are helping governments and companies around the world take on the great challenges of our time.
