About the position The Office Administrator/Bookkeeper will play a vital role in supporting the operations of a small United Church of Christ congregation and its associated Assemblies of God churches. This part-time position requires a compassionate individual who can manage administrative tasks, maintain financial records, and provide bilingual support to the community. The role emphasizes confidentiality, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of humor while ensuring smooth office operations. Responsibilities • Provide a compassionate presence in the office, online, or by telephone. • Prepare Sunday worship bulletins and maintain the building use calendar. • Respond to requests for administrative assistance from the Minister, Deacons, and other church team members. • Maintain accurate records including files, membership database, and computer backup. • Update the WordPress website for the church. • Maintain office supplies inventory and place orders as necessary to ensure uninterrupted workflow. • Compile the monthly newsletter in Microsoft Publisher. • Maintain lists of property maintenance requests and notify the property team when repairs are needed. • Create checks, create deposits, and add ACH payments into the check register. • Add church debit card payments into the check register, reconcile checking account, and update and reconcile the investment account. • Run payroll, print payroll taxes paid confirmation from Yahoo Email, and file paid invoices. Requirements • Proven experience in an administrative or office management role is preferred. • Familiarity with payroll systems and human resources practices is a plus. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Excellent bilingual communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on compassion as well as professionalism. • Proficiency in standard office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Nice-to-haves • Experience with WordPress is a plus. • Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is preferred.
