Founded in 1986, OnTrac has evolved into the leading provider of same-day and next-day delivery services in the U.S. for premier e-commerce and product-supply businesses, including five of the largest retailers in the U.S. The Senior MS SQL Database Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex SQL Server databases and ensuring their performance, availability, and security. This role requires exceptional skills from extensive experience and deep expertise in T-SQL, database architecture, performance tuning, and data integration. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain MS SQL Server databases, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers. • Optimize and tune SQL queries for performance and scalability. • Develop and maintain ETL processes using SSIS or other tools. • Collaborate with application developers and business analysts to design database solutions that meet business requirements. • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with best practices and standards. • Monitor database performance and implement improvements. • Participate in database design and architecture discussions. • Provide support for production databases, including troubleshooting and on-call support. • Document database structures, processes, and procedures. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience in MS SQL Server development. • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, including complex queries, indexing, and performance tuning. • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Server Agent. • Solid understanding of database design principles and normalization. • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies. Nice-to-haves • Expertise in cloud-based SQL solutions. • Knowledge of Power BI or other reporting tools. • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database deployments. • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) are a plus. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
