Job Summary As a Software Engineering Manager II, Embedded Systems and Firmware Development, you will play a critical role in leading the development of embedded systems and firmware. You will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, providing technical leadership, and contributing to the company's technical strategy. Your expertise in embedded systems and firmware development will help drive the success of our projects. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to a team of engineers, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Team Management: Manage a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to help them grow and develop in their roles. Project Planning: Develop and execute project plans, ensuring that projects are aligned with the company's goals and objectives. Technical Vision: Develop and maintain a technical vision for the team, ensuring that it aligns with the company's overall technical strategy. Code Review: Review code developed by other engineers, providing feedback to ensure best practices and high-quality code. System Design: Design, guide, and vet system designs, ensuring that they meet the required standards and are aligned with the company's technical strategy. Requirements Essential Qualifications Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Software Development Experience: 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). Technical Leadership Experience: 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing strategic projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role. Embedded Operating Systems Experience: 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree or PhD: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Complex Organization Experience: 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization. Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need: Technical Expertise: Strong technical skills in embedded systems and firmware development, with experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and management skills, with experience in leading teams and providing coaching and mentoring. Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
