Trial Attorney I (3855)

Zenith Insurance Company is a team of Workers' Compensation Specialists committed to helping businesses succeed. They are seeking a Trial Attorney I to perform legal counsel duties on increasingly complex legal matters in the defense and representation of the Company in various courts of law. Responsibilities Handles workers’ compensation cases under the state administrative process (trial level), as well as state and federal courts Defends workers' compensation cases Takes depositions, analyzes testimony, prepares and files related reports Represents the Company in appearances at hearings and conferences; prepares and files related reports Researches and prepares and files appropriate legal pleadings for cases under the state administrative process (trial level), as well as state and federal civil courts Provides advice, training and recommendations on case handling strategies to representatives of the Claims Department Performs legal research at all levels, from advising clients through the appellate procedures Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Responds positively to direction and critique of performance Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor Performs other duties as assigned Perform regular reviews on appropriate access levels based on job titles/roles for core systems Skills High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience Juris Doctorate Law school graduate and member in good standing of the State Bar Ability to efficiently communicate both orally and in writing, in an articulate, persuasive, precise and professional manner Ability to lift legal files, including documents and exhibits, up to a weight of 30 pounds Must be willing and able to travel extensively using all means of public transportation, as well as capable of prolonged automobile driving, in excess of three hours a day, to widely dispersed venues Valid Driver License in good standing Benefits Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Flexible Spending Accounts Paid Parental Leave Life, AD&D and Disability Insurance 401(k), Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) Education and Training Reimbursement Paid Leave: 3 weeks/year Vacation, 2 weeks/year Sick Leave 10 paid Company Holidays, 2 Personal Days, 2 Floating Holidays Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Company Overview Zenith is the premier specialist in workers’ compensation nationally, and a leader in property and casualty insurance for the California agriculture industry.
