Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test software applications used in the power systems industry
- Analyze customer requirements and develop software application designs that satisfy customer requirements
- Develop product documentation for software applications
- Design theoretical algorithms and deliver the implementation in software applications
- Create test procedures and perform testing including unit and algorithm proof testing
- Maintain existing power system software applications and internal tools
- Perform technical reviews on development work products
- Stay up to date with the latest NERC/FERC standards and power system engineering industry developments
Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, BSEE with Power Systems Emphasis, Mathematics or related technical field
- Understanding of power systems concepts in generation, transmission, distribution, distributed energy resources (DER)/DER integration and/or outage management
- Proficiency with analytical tools, e.g., MATLAB, PSLF, CYME, PowerWorld or other similar tools
- Exposure to Transient Switching studies using EMTP/EMTDC/PSCAD or equivalent software
- Proficiency in C, C++ and/or C# coding (school or work setting)
- Demonstrated understanding/application of knowledge in areas of power flow, state estimation, DER control and network optimization
- Knowledge of high voltage Electrical Power Systems
- Experience developing software in a commercial setting using C, C++ and/or C#
- Advanced degree (MS, PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Power Systems Emphasis, Mathematics or related technical field
