What You’ll Do - Build reliable, scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript - Design and operate APIs and data flows that power core features of our product - Own the full lifecycle of backend systems, from architecture and code to deployment, monitoring, and observability - Help evolve and maintain our AWS infrastructure using Terraform - Optimize performance, reliability, and maintainability of our backend systems - Help shape the culture and engineering standards of our growing team You’re a Great Fit If You: - Have 10+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems - Care deeply about system observability, reliability, and performance - Are comfortable managing cloud infrastructure (AWS + Terraform experience strongly preferred) - Have strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript in production - Have hands-on experience with relational databases (especially Postgres / AWS RDS) - Enjoy working on a tight-knit, fast-moving team where engineers wear multiple hats - Communicate clearly and enjoy cross-functional collaboration - If remote, please be between UTC/GMT -3 to -8 timezones Bonus Points: - Experience operating production systems at scale with strong observability practices - Experience with Prisma and advanced Postgres performance tuning - Comfortable working with infrastructure as code (Terraform) - Based in or near San Luis Obispo, CA, though remote is welcome Tech Stack - Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Postgres (AWS RDS), Prisma - Infra: AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch), Terraform, Docker - Frontend: React, TypeScript, Next.js - Tooling: Nx, GitHub Why Join Us? - Be part of a mission-driven startup solving real problems for founders - Work alongside experienced builders in a low-ego, high-ownership environment - Competitive comp + meaningful equity - Great health benefits, flexible hours, generous PTO About the interview We keep things simple and respectful of your time: a quick chat with our recruiter, a short coding challenge, and conversations with our CTO, a senior engineer, and finally our CEO.
