Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced nonprofit grant writer to support a newly established organization focused on developing and managing affordable housing in Texas, with an emphasis on veterans, disabled veterans, and underserved families.
our organization is preparing to pursue funding from government agencies, foundations, and housing programs to support the development of 10–16 unit affordable housing projects in the Houston and Dallas–Fort Worth regions.
The ideal candidate has experience securing funding related to:
Affordable housing development
Veteran housing programs
Community development initiatives
Federal and state housing grants
Experience working with programs from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs is highly preferred.
Scope of Work:
The selected consultant will assist with:
• Identifying relevant grant opportunities (federal, state, and foundation)
• Developing a grant funding strategy
• Writing and submitting grant proposals
• Preparing supporting documentation and narratives
• Advising on nonprofit funding readiness and compliance
• Supporting applications for affordable housing and community development funding
Initial focus will be identifying 3–5 grant opportunities and preparing our first round of grant applications.
Qualifications
• Proven experience writing successful nonprofit grant proposals
• Demonstrated success securing grants ($50k+ preferred)
• Familiarity with affordable housing, community development, or veteran programs
• Experience with government grants preferred
• Strong research and proposal writing skills
